Saturday, April 8th – Walking Tour in Los Alamos and on to El Fuerte – Gateway to the Copper Canyon
A two and a half hour walking tour through the historic colonial city of Los Alamos gave us some good insight about this area.
“(Los Alamos) a designated National Monument. Its elaborate mansions, restored to their original glory, date back to a bygone era when the silver mines here were among the richest in the world.” – Gate 1
Following lunch we piled back on our bus and headed toward El Fuerte, the “Gateway to the Copper Canyon”.
A brief walking tour of El Fuerte before dinner gave us a chance to stretch our legs after our long afternoon ride. Then dinner at the hotel followed by a performance of traditional folk and native dances.
UPDATE: Just added a little clip of the dancers.
Overnight: El Fuerte
GRATITUDE MOMENT: Today I am grateful for really comfortable walking shoes. When your feet hurt, you hurt all over. I’m so glad I don’t have that problem!
More colourful memories. So much to digest. Again, vibrant photographs.Thank you.

I’ve been to Los Alamos and El Fuerte and your words and photographs brought them back to me. But the thing I enjoyed most about this post was your gratitude for good walking shoes. Amen and amen.

Comfortable walking shoes! it’s the small things… Looks like Tim’s bar had an ample supply of tequila. 🙂 –Curt

Ha – had not noticed the tequila – it was the bright yellow that caught my eye.
