Cruising on Lake Lucerne and Exploring Old Town

Monday July 18th ~ Lucerne, Switzerland

This was day two in this truly magical city that we have fallen completely head over heels in love with. I am feeling sleep deprived and we have a VERY early wake up tomorrow morning to catch a train at 6:18am. With that said, I don’t want to gloss over the fabulous things we experienced today, but I am not going to be able to keep my eyes open much longer.

Sooooo, I am simply going to try to lump our pictures together quickly and call it a day. Hope it will at least help jog my memory in the future and still give an adequate impression of just how amazing Lucerne is.

Chapel Bridge – went back again to see it in the morning light and to get a picture of Gus.

Glacier Garden ~ I was not overly impressed and probably would not recommend spending time here unless you are staying for several days or you have an unusual interest in this sort of thing. It is located right next to the Lion Monument and is free with the rail pass.

They do have a viewing tower though that allowed a nice panorama shot. And a crazy mirrored platform where we took a couple of shots that still have us laughing.

Cruise on Lake Lucerne ~ We took a relaxing 1.75 hour ferry cruise on an old-time paddle wheel boat. It left from the pier right across from the train depot. Also free with rail pass. We took the one that departs at noon. If you are interested in taking this one, you can make reservations in the dining room and enjoy a good (but pricy) lunch on board.

Musegg ~ Walking on the Old Town Wall ~ Climbing up to the top of the clock tower provided more scenic views that were amazing. We also got to see the inner workings of the clock, and happened to be in the tower when the hourly bell was sounded.

GRATITUDE MOMENT: I am grateful that I was able to simply enjoy a beautiful day with my hubby in a city that will forever hold some special memories. I certainly hope to be able to return before another thirty years passes by…

  3. I have great memories of our visit to Lucern though it rained quite a bit and we couldn’t completely see the mountains surrounding it. It is a nice town. Nice pics. (Suzanne)

Another gorgeous day – now get some sleep so you don’t nap all day on the train and miss the scenery. 🙂
