As we expected, there is a bit of a learning curve when a third party joins us in the RV. We were up around 8:00 this morning, but by the time we got ourselves organized, waited out a thunderstorm, got showered, hair washed, had tea/coffee, ate breakfast, hooked the car up, and closed up the RV, it was 11:00 before we got out the door. Well, we are back on the road today. This time Tim and I have company (besides Gus that is). Tim’s mom, Shirley has joined us in the RV for the return trip. Missouri Botanical Garden
Our weather was hot and humid, but we were not to be deterred. Since it was a holiday weekend, finding an RV park in St Louis the previous evening became difficult. We ended up staying about 60 miles west of town, so after a lazy morning, a bit of a drive and a late breakfast at Cracker Barrel, we finally arrived in St Louis.

Back on Route 66, at least for a while today. Much of the old highway runs beside Highway 40, but sometimes it goes off on its own for a ways. We managed to get onto another section that turned into a dirt road today which kind of left a bad taste in my mouth. Continue reading

I woke up at 3:30 this morning with a loud bang, the RV shaking violently and a rather un-lady like “Oh Shit”. The wind was howling. I got up and went to the bathroom, and Tim followed shortly thereafter. I commented that the wind was blowing like crazy. His response, “Sure is” and he promptly went right back to sleep.
