Jackson Wyoming ~ Looking for Moose!

June 26th ~ Jackson, WY

The only moose I have seen so far – and this one was not breathing

I’m on the hunt! A few years ago we spent 10 days in Yellowstone and saw about a gazillion elk, but not a single moose. So I have made it my mission to find a moose on this trip. Tim says we are not leaving The Tetons until I see one, lol.  Continue reading

Paris Tabernacle ~ Paris, Idaho

A beautiful day to drive this gorgeous land. Weather in the high 70’s, an occasional puffy cloud, brilliant sunshine, and photo shopped scenery to put huge smiles on our faces.  Continue reading

Bear Lake and Meeting My Long Lost Cousin

June 23rd and 24th ~ Bear Lake, Utah

Logan Canyon Scenic Byway to Cache Valley

A couple of years back, I located one of my cousins that I had never met through the magic of Facebook. With occasional posts, I got a tiny bit of insight into James, his wife Mandilyn and their two children. I learned that he was a talented tattoo artist and she was an accomplished hair dresser. They had recently moved into a home that they had built themselves.  Continue reading

Park City, Utah ~ Ski Mecca, Sundance Film Festival, Classic Old Town

June 21st ~ Park City, Utah

Main Street, Historical District, Park City

We have kept a low profile the past few days. Moving on to Park City where we stayed for three nights. It gave us a chance to do some laundry and grocery shopping at the nearby Trader Joe’s. A stop by Camping World where we picked up a couple of items we needed for the RV, and we even found a great “new to us” store called Sierra Trading Post where we picked up some super deals on casual clothing.  Continue reading

Arches National Park – I thought I was tired of rocks – I was wrong!

Father’s Day, Sunday June 18th ~ Moab, Utah

Double Arch – Arches National Park

I didn’t sleep well last night so this post will be short, but littered with pictures. Again the heat wave derailed our hiking plans, but we still got to see a few of the highlight of Arches National Park, and thoroughly enjoyed our day.  Continue reading

Canyonlands National Park and Dead Horse Point

Saturday, June 17th ~ Moab, Utah

Mesa Arch ~ Canyonlands National Park

It is sweltering hot and TV stations are issuing High Heat warnings. Signs are posted everywhere reminding people to stay well hydrated. Initially we thought about just taking a “day off” and doing nothing, or perhaps a bit of laundry. But, after a few minutes of vegging, we threw that idea out the window, grabbed our water bottles, backpack, sunglasses, hats, sunscreen, and sense of humor and headed out.  Continue reading

Ash gray hills, lower and less rugged than at Capitol Reef NP

“One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.” – Henry Miller

Leaving Torrey, we drove back through Capitol Reef National Park, continuing along Highway 24. It was not long before the dark red streaked cliffs turned to an ash gray.  Continue reading
