Sometimes a door is just a door. And sometimes it is a work of art. And sometimes it makes you want to know what is behind it.
Most of the doors shown here are made out of wood. Some date back centuries and a few are more modern. One is made out of brass. One is made out of copper.
They are painted bright colors or weatherbeaten and raw.
A Royal Family has walked through at least one of these.
Another is really more about the locks and hinges than the door itself.
We have photographed them in across Europe, Africa and here in the USA.
What they all have in common, is that we have stopped and admired each and every one of them as we traveled around the world.

This next door was all about the hardware, Zurich, Switzerland

Thank you Curt. Taos has some really nice ones. I loved the contrast between the colorful door and the adobe.

They can be so interesting. Some quite simple and others so elaborate. I’m glad a few others take pictures of them too. ❤️
