Tuesday, July 12th – Los Angeles International Airport

Ready for another great adventure!
We are all checked in and patiently waiting to board our Swiss Airline non-stop flight from Los Angeles to Zürich, Switzerland.

In the KLM VIP lounge at LAX International Airport
For the next two weeks we will be following Rick Steve’s recommendation for traveling through Switzerland via train. This has long been on Tim’s wish list, so he is pretty excited to finally get to see their magnificent scenery.

This is the train route we are following from Zurich **

Recommended stops (we added two nights in Zürich at the start of our trip) **
**The map and itinerary are from Rick Steve’s Switzerland (Eighth Edition)
Instead of returning to Zürich at the end, we will instead take a train to Basel on July 27th and spend one night there before taking a Uniworld River Cruise on the Rhine and Moselle rivers all the way to Amsterdam.

GRATITUDE MOMENT: Today I am grateful to once again be on our way to explore, discover and learn. We invite you to follow along…
Looking forward to our armchair holiday with you both, thanks, Joanne and Tim

Have a wonderful time! I’ve visited family in Switzerland and it’s always been an adventure. Do try the cheese fondue if you come across it.

Thank you for your recommendation. I have not had any fondue in years and it sounds like the perfect comfort food about now.

Sandy, I’m not sure which portion I’m more excited about. I know we will enjoy the amazing scenery of Switzerland, but being spoiled rotten by Uniworld sounds pretty wonderful as well. Glad you two enjoyed it.

Have a fabulous trip. We too love train travel and there are some really quaint smaller trains in Switzerland. Jealous about the river cruise! Enjoy!

Thank you Alison. We are becoming more confident with traveling by train. Sure wish the USA had better train options. It is so convenient and a great way to see the country side instead of flying over it.
