Angkor Wat Sunrise

Saturday March 12th ~ Siem Reap, Cambodia

Lost coconut

Abandoned coconut

We have had sunny and hot weather since arriving in Cambodia, but this morning the stars were not aligned in our favor. Up early and out the door at 5:00 to do a sunrise shoot at Angkor Wat we were disappointed to be greeted by our first rain.

Needless to say, our dreams of getting that beautiful morning glow coming up over the temples with brilliant reflections in the surrounding pool of water went up in smoke.

We did manage to capture a few pictures that will at least set the stage of where we were and I’m sure will bring back wistful memories for us in years to come…

Arriving an hour before dawn

A faint glow, but nothing to write home about

A faint glow, but nothing to write home about, but I am anyway, 🙂

Time to move on...

Time to move on…

And just in case you were wondering what all of the Tuk Tuk drivers are doing while they wait for their passengers to return:

Sleeping soundly inside his hammock while he waits!

GRATITUDE MOMENT: Today I am grateful for an umbrella and cheerful travel companions who never grumbled, even after leaving the hotel at 5:00 in the morning, sitting in the rain, and seeing only a touch of a sunrise.

  3. Rain adds its own beauty. I also liked the umbrella shots. Reminded me of French Impressionist paintings. –Curt

We can plan only so much and then “que será, será.” Knowing you’re returning soon I think you’ll have another opportunity.
