Sunday, April 20th, Danube River Cruise
I have been looking forward to our river cruise for weeks. We have only taken one other river cruise and that was about 5-6 years ago. We went from Moscow to St. Petersburg. I loved it, but Tim was sick almost the entire trip so he does not have fond memories. This is my chance to “sell” him on taking another river cruise in the future.
And guess what, Tim woke me up at 5:00 this morning asking for medicine. He was feeling rotten…
Fast forward 12 hours and he is feeling much better and I am hopeful that we nipped his bug before it was able to do much damage.
Anyway, we are now on board, all unpacked and waiting for our evening departure. Other passengers have been streaming on. I think there are 120 passengers in total, plus crew. For anyone that has been on an ocean cruise – get that thought out of your mind. This is a much smaller and more “basic” vessel. And by basic, I mean BASIC in comparison. No glass elevators overlooking a stunning 5 story lobby, only one restaurant where we eat all of our meals, no shopping court and no casino.
Here are a few pictures I took to show what our accommodations look like:
Our Cabin:
I got a kick out of the laundry list. Guys have underpants, but ladies have knickers!
I think we will be quite comfortable here for the next week. It is low key, casual, and with so few passengers will make it easier to get to know our fellow travelers. We have been divided into three groups of 40, each with our own tour manager. Mick, Adrien and Peter will rotate giving lectures and port talks.
We met our maitre d’hotel, Christian, who was very familiar with Tim’s food allergies and will see that meals are specially prepared for us. I feel like we are in good hands!
GRATITUDE MOMENT: Today I am grateful for second opportunities.
