IN PICTURES – Bucharest, a city of charm, character and architectural splendor

Z Executive Boutique Hotel

Z Executive Boutique Hotel

Our final two days in Bucharest we were on our own to explore.  We had moved to the Z Executive Boutique Hotel in the historic section of town.  The rate was reasonable, but the hotel was a little hard to find.  If you do book there, make sure to get directions.  The location is excellent, staff friendly, decent breakfast, WiFi worked and close to public transportation.

This is simply a random selection of pictures I took while in Bucharest.  I thoroughly enjoyed the diversity, historical and elaborate architecture.  The people were kind, however I found them to be reserved and a bit guarded.  It took a bit to get a smile.

We enjoyed our Gate 1 tour and felt they offered good value. I have booked another trip with them to go to Thailand in November 2013. We are allowing a couple of days at the start of the trip to get over jet lag and tacked on a week at the end of the trip for some independent exploration.

We are thinking about spending the last week in Southern Thailand, perhaps on one of the islands.  Does anyone have a suggestion where to spend that week, must see places, and where to eat?

If you have been there, please leave us a recommendation in the comment section below…
