Is it just me, or have you also noticed that people are getting a bit more prickly lately? I see it on Facebook, in the news, Twitter and in some personal interactions.
Others seem more aggressive, angrier. Driving on the freeway brings up images of dodge ball vs. bumper cars.
I get it that people are concerned about the economy, the government shutdown, political corruption, celebrity twerking, and toxic additives in our food supply.
There are health concerns to deal with, jobs lost, homes in foreclosure, manipulative relationships, addictions and any number of other valid reasons to be having a bad day, week, month or year.
Everyone is blaming the other side for the current situation. Finger pointing is endless.
Name calling, making fun of, or belittling “them” has become merciless and common place.
I would love to see us evolve into a society that can resolve our issues without the need to demonize or ridicule someone else, the other political party, a different religion, or life style to make a point.
Each person has the right to voice their opinion, be heard, validated, understood. But could we please just try to do it in a more civilized way?
If we softened those spiked barbs and became a little less prickly, perhaps our message might be more successfully delivered/received.
