Four Corners Monument and Our Last Leg Home

June 8th ~ Four Corners Monument

Four Corners quadripoint, is where Utah, Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico meet. It is the only point in the United States shared by four states.

We made a brief stop here on the long drive from Colorado back to Southern California.

The challenge is to get a body part into all four states at the same time. We witnessed clever contortionists place a hands in two states, and feet in two states, but Tim and I chose to each straddle two states while holding hands, creating a circle.

Then to change it up, Dick and Karen joined us so that we could each be standing in one of the four states. I am in Arizona, Tim in Utah, Dick in Colorado and Karen in New Mexico.

Ahhh, simple games, simple pleasures…

The rest of the drive was pretty stark, bleak, hot and dare I say, boring at times.

The road to???

But there is still extreme beauty to be found if you take the time to look.

Rock formations pop up out of nowhere

Last leg home…

GRATITUDE MOMENT: Today I am grateful that Tim and I have such a comfortable easy flow in our relationship. Long hours spent together, sometimes watching mind numbing miles upon miles pass us by, can lead to moments of silence, pointing out an interesting vista, or diving off into one of many deep conversations that have led to us solving (almost) all of the worlds problems, lol.

Oh my, the four corners monument has changed since I saw it last, then it dawns on me that despite having lived in Colorado, been through Utah to Arizona many times to see family in Phoenix, I’d not been back since my daughter was in diapers and she’s 48 now. Thank you for sharing that.
My husband is my favorite travel partner as well and my goodness if you two have solved almost all the worlds problems, between the four us we wouldn’t have any problems. lol

The four corners spot is rather neat and made me wonder if someone committed a crime nearby and a cop arrived to arrest him and he “jumped” into another state would that cop from the first state still have jurisdiction over him? Or if a woman laid on that spot and gave birth which state would the baby be considered born in? What fun mind puzzles that spot provides! Glad you made it home safely (even if it was boring)!
