House of Mystery
It was time to do a little backtracking, as we left the Oregon Coast and headed back inland toward Medford. Thankfully the sun was out in full force as we once again passed by one of my favorite coastline spots at Myers Beach.

Most of today was simply transitional, but we did have one surprise up our sleeves with a stop at the House of Mystery.

I thought many of the “tricks” were simply optical illusions, but even when a level was placed on a platform to show that was not true, I remained mystified. In one moment I could look almost eye level with Laura, and the next instance after switching places, I would seem to tower over her.

Michael and Laura did this same experiment at another location at the site with similar results. Again the platform was checked with a level and the bubble showed right in the middle.
Laura still appears shorter than Michael here, but…
Wow, what a difference when they changed ends
It was fun and funny to spend an hour here on a tour and experience the oddities. Golf balls and a soda bottle appeared to roll uphill. With uneven flooring we stood at odd angles.
I still don’t know what I think about this place, so it will just have to remain a “mystery” for now.
GRATITUDE MOMENT: Today I am thankful that I can keep an open mind and remain open to the unknown. Whatever the reality is, the stopover was a nice break from our drive and left us all scratching our heads.

These places are so much fun, I remember the house they had at Knotts Berry Farm that was the same.

Terry, it has been quite a few years since we have visited Knott’s Berry Farm. I think a return trip is needed to check it out.

That looks like a cool place for a break from driving, for sure. I have seen the mystery of a ball seemingly rolling uphill before, got an explanation, but don’t recall what it was now. Sometimes, it’s nice for things to remain a mystery….like magic. It’s no fun once you know how it is done. You’re Myers Beach photo is so pretty.

Myers Beach has been one of those “long time” favorites. And yes, I agree with you, sometimes it is more fun to let things remain unanswered.

I went to a similar place in Santa Cruz, CA called “Mystery Spot.” It had the same things you describe. The guide was funny and the place was interesting, but I don’t know – there seem to be several of these places and I’m not sure if some “trick” is used to make you think they are special. Anyway, they rake in the dough!

I have not been to the one in Santa Cruz, so can’t compare it for you. Regardless, we had a fun experience and it was a great way to break up our drive that afternoon.
