This was taken in March, 2014 in Delhi, India. It was our first full day there. We were a bit jet lagged and definitely over whelmed by all the sights, sounds, smells, color, confusion, traffic and people.

    India was never on my bucket list but I’ve heard such great things from so many people who have been there that I have reconsidered. Is that a country you’d do on your own or maybe better to do with a small tour? Love your gratitude moment!

      We spent several days on our own in Delhi with two other well-traveled couples before joining a Gate 1 tour. I would recommend going with a tour group for your first experience in India. It can overwhelm you in so many ways and having the experts get you from point A to point B allowed us to take in the entire experience without being concerned about the logistics of everything. But India is not for everyone. This is one of the tours that I often think about and would recommend to anyone with a sense of adventure, who can leave judgement at home, is open minded and has an open heart as well. At times it will shock you and then turn around and amaze you. Creature comforts are often lacking or basic. The crowds can be intimidating. A friend of ours from India told us before we left, “if you can be comfortable traveling in India, you can travel anywhere”. I guess we passed the test, because I would return in a heartbeat.
