Thursday April 24th – Celebrating our 22nd anniversary with an optional full day trip to Salzburg.
I got behind in writing my blog with lousy Internet service here on the boat. Some of the days have run together for me a bit as I am now trying to get caught up with our day-by-day excursions, actually writing about them in some cases several days after they occurred.
I really wanted to start singing as we passed through this area

A few people had decided to stay on board to cruise through a very scenic part of the Danube, but Tim and I along with 3/4 of the passengers loaded onto two busses and rode on to Salzburg. The scenery was so pretty as we passed by brilliant yellow fields of rapeseed plants, mountain lakes and rocky crags.

Our first break was just a coffee and bathroom stop. It turned out to be my favorite scenic spot of the entire day. Landzeit Mondsee I think is the name of the lake. Our guide referred to it as Moon Lake.

The name Salzburg means “Salt Castle”. Known as the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, baroque architecture, as the setting for much of the movie “The Sound of Music”, Wiener Schnitzel, and of course the old town section is another UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Although the town’s bridges and the dome of the cathedral were destroyed, much of its Baroque architecture remained intact. Another lock bridge, we thought about adding a lock for our anniversary but did not find one.

GRATITUDE MOMENT: Today I am grateful for celebrating 22 wonderful years married to the best husband any woman could ask for. Tim has seen us through some occasional stormy weather, a frightening earthquake, my health issues, helped care for my mother in our home as she battled cancer and Alzheimer’s, starting and growing our business, working long hours side by side and then economic upheaval. Yet, never once has our foundation been weakened. We are a team – ALWAYS!
A Note From Abroad 
This post tugs at my heartstrings in so many ways. I love the photos — Austria and Germany look lovely! But mostly I am happy for you (and a little jealous) that you are getting to travel with your husband of 22 years! Travel is beautiful by itself, but it’s best when shared with a loved one. Thank you Brenda for the anniversary wishes. That lake and the setting with the green hills was gorgeous. I am now aching to do a road trip through this area to be able to spend more time here. Of course my “wish list” is growing by the minute!

Nice blog entry. We visited Austria for the first time this year and we simply loved it. To be quite honest, I didn’t want to leave. It definitely has a beauty all of its own and those mountains are simply breathtaking. I felt like singing too!
